Orthodox Christmas in Russia!
Hi my name is Anastasija, I want to tell you a little story about Christmas in Russia that called Orthodox Christmas.
Orthodox Christmas is on January 7th. After 1917 Christmas went through out Russia, through every house and every family. In Christmas people made a lots of games and food so the holiday they had will be fun.(some food they ate)
Mushrooms
Russian tea with honey
Vegetables
Pancakes
Fruit and more…
They drink: red wine or old Russian vodka (kids): water or juice.
Then they played lots of games. After they played all the games they all went to the church (even babies and kids).Women were wearing nice clothes for that time like warm and long skirts , shawls on their heads and shoulders so it will be warmer , at the time they lived they did not had coats like have now so they wear blankets (mostly).Man did wear warm jackets warm pants and boots women also wear warm boots.
In church they sing prayers and said sorry to GOD if you did any mistakes last year or in other day that is on 19th of January . People go to the ocean go under water three times and say sorry to GOD and going home but all of this stuff is in midnight… kind of creepy.
THANK YOU FOR READING MY STORY. I THINK NOW YOU KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT ORTHODOX CHRISTMAS!!!
